The Hong Kong Olympiad in Informatics (HKOI) will be coming up soon. This is an internationally recognised competition. It forms the HK division of the International Olympiad in Informatics.
Candidates will demonstrate their understanding of algorithms and data structures using C++ or Python in a timed written exam/competition format for the first round. Those who qualify for round two will then have a practical round of solving programming problems using either C++ or Python. The top students from across Hong Kong after the second round will then be invited to go into training to represent Hong Kong at the international finals event.

The date for round one is probably going to be the Saturday before Explorer week (Saturday 7 November).
Students in Year 10, Year 11 and Year 12 (born after 1st July) can qualify as Junior. Students older than that have to register in the Senior division.
If you are interested, please let me know. When the exact date is announced, I'll update those who have responded to confirm your availability, and to give you preparation materials. We can only enrol a maximum of 8 students per age division, so if interest is strong a possible internal qualifying test may be required.
